This Privacy Policy explains how DogDiary ("the Application"), developed by TemperedCode ("we", "us", or "our"), handles information related to you and your pet. We prioritize your privacy and operate under a "Privacy by Design" philosophy.

            Core Principle: DogDiary is an "offline-first" application. Your dog's health logs, dietary data (Allergy Detective), and digital passport records are stored locally on your device. We do not operate proprietary servers to store your pet's personal health data.
        

1. Information Handling and Storage

The Application processes various types of data to help you track your pet's life. All primary data entry occurs and remains on your device unless you explicitly enable cloud features.

A. Health and Dietary Data

Information such as fecal scores, food ingredients, weight measurements, and activity logs are stored in a local encrypted database (Room). The "Allergy Detective" logic processes this data locally on your device to find correlations.

B. Digital Passport & Attachments

Sensitive data like microchip numbers and insurance details are stored locally. With your permission, the Application uses the camera to scan medical documents or take photos. These attachments are saved in the Application's private internal storage.

Data Loss Warning: Since data is stored locally, uninstalling DogDiary or clearing application data will permanently delete all logs and attachments. We recommend regular backups.

2. Premium & Cloud Services (Optional)

For users of the Premium version, DogDiary offers optional synchronization and backup features. This requires your explicit consent and interaction with third-party APIs:

Google Drive API: To store encrypted backup files in a hidden, app-specific directory. We cannot access other files on your Drive.
Google Account Integration: To facilitate cross-device synchronization. Data transmitted is encrypted and used solely for restoring your diary on a new device.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your pet's health data to third-party advertisers or insurance companies.

3. Third-Party Integrations

A. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version may display ads. Google may use advertising identifiers to serve relevant content. You can manage ad personalization in your Android system settings.

B. Analytics (Firebase)

We collect anonymous telemetry (e.g., "how many users use the Allergy Detective feature") to improve the app. No specific health logs or pet names are ever transmitted.

C. Payments (Google Play Billing)

All financial transactions for Premium features are handled securely by Google Play. We never see or store your credit card information.

4. User Rights and Data Control

You have full control over your data:

Right to Erasure: You can delete any entry or the entire database directly within the app settings.
Portability: You can use the built-in export features to create local backups of your data.

5. Children's Privacy

DogDiary is a tool for pet owners and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
